It’s Arbor Day in California and Boys & Girls Club youth participated in a special day of tree planting.

Three teens from our Chico Teen Center took a trip over to Bidwell Park today to plant trees in observance of Arbor Day. With the help of Boys & Girls Club staff and Urban Forest Manager of Chico, Denice Britton, the teens successfully planted four Valley Oak trees and one Maple tree in strategic locations near One Mile. The day was also an opportunity for youth to learn proper tree planting techniques as well as learn about the importance of planting trees in areas of the park that would not regenerate saplings without human intervention.  Overall the teens said they had a lot of fun!

This field trip is just one of the many ways our teens are giving back to the community that gives so much to them. Happy Arbor Day!
