Boys and Girls Club of North Valley

Impact

Success Stories

When you walk through the doors of the Boys & Girls Club you will most likely hear a lot of laughter.  Depending on the time of day, you will also see young people building friendships, doing homework, working on projects, engaging in activities and sharing their thoughts and dreams with staff and volunteers.  Mostly, it looks like a lot of fun.  And it is.  What most people don't see (and we plan it this way) is the intentional guidance and instruction that is part of every interaction, every game, every program and every activity - every day.

Our club joins with clubs around the globe that utilize the following formula to positively impact the lives of young people in our communities.

Inputs

Safe and Positive Environment

Boys & Girls Clubs create an environment for young people where they are physically, socially and emotionally safe.  Clubs are designed to be inviting, well-lit and attractive to the young people we serve. Structured and unstructured programs and activities are conducted daily in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one.

Caring Adult Professionals

BGCNV youth development professionals receive an average of 100 hours of training and ongoing professional development each year. In a recent club survey a majority of youth members reported that they were “very comfortable” talking with staff about personal problems.

Regular Attendance

The Clubs charge only $10 a year to ensure that no child is turned away. Clubs are open every day after school so children can depend on us to be there when they need us most. Surveys show that youngsters who attend the Boys & Girls Club regularly are those most likely to have the greatest life-changing impact.
